Cock-Tales of Yore

Sweet Mary, mother of our new born king! December has been nuts. Real nuts. Our new cocktail recipe book is being released, we’ve formed some wonderful new relationships with a few restaurants, magazines and event halls and and we’ve just flat out been running crazy getting everyone their mulled wine, ciders and other holiday drinks. And though December has left a tornados aftermath in our house, in the form of alcohol by the case, bitters as far as the eye can see and piles of laundry, Lindsay and I have a lot of fun coming up with various signature cocktails and are amazed at how blessed we are. So, to recap, some of Decembers highlights are:

Schermerhorn Symphony Ball
Music City’s star studded fundraiser called on us this year to provide a signature libation in honor of Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman. The “Aussie Aussie Aussie” consisted of Mt Gay extra old rum, amaro CioCiaro, ginger liquor, lime, almond molasses syrup and champagne. Though we were at another event, the feedback coming through text and twitter told us that we had, in fact, won the crowd over.

Olive or Twist
One of the things we’re most excited about for 2013 is our new relationship with the new East Centric Pavilion. To kick off this partnership of event planning and general party throwing, we created a cocktail menu for their launch event Olive or Twist. This chef driven, food and spirit festival brought in some of the best in East Nashville and we were honored to serve such a supportive community. Though our take on a traditional Brandy Alexander brought a smile to all, with bourbon and Whisper Creek Tennessee sipping cream, the recipes we were the most proud of were our mulled wine, fortified with Liquor 43 (Spanish orange liquor with vanilla notes) and the Ballardi No 2! This combination of gin, green chartreuse, lime and celery was the closest to my heart and, maybe of no surprise, we went through two batches.

There have been many other events and subsequent cocktails for sure. It would take multiple posts to list them, but Lindsay and I can’t thank Nashville enough for the support you have given us in 2012. We appreciate your love of fine drink, which has given us the opportunity to meet, serve and dialogue with so many wonderful people through all of our events and classes.

As we sign out for the year and take time to enjoy our families this holiday season, we want to leave you with this: you are valued and you are loved. Simple? Of coarse. However, it is in this revelation that we can value and love one another, which is the point of this season! Merry Christmas kids.
